After coloring, all children went to the backyard and ran straight to the top of the slide. Luisita could not make it. She felt very tired again.

Después de colorear, todos los niños salieron al patio y subieron corriendo hasta lo alto del tobogán. Luisita no lo consiguió. Se sintió muy cansada otra vez.

“The doctor will help you feel better,” her mom said. Luisita’s mommy hugged Luisita and told her that she had to be patient. “Patient means you have to learn how to wait,” her mom said. “This is why people who go see doctors are called patients.”

Luisita feels exhausted. She can’t run and play with her friends as she usually does. The doctor tells her she has cancer. Her mom explains what cancer means to Luisita. She learns a lot from her doctors, nurses and friends.

Luisita se siente exhausta. No puede correr y jugar con sus amigos como siempre hace. Su doctora le dice que tiene cáncer. La mamá explica a Luisita lo que significa cáncer. Ella aprende mucho de sus doctores, enfermeros y amigos.

La mamá de Luisita la abrazó y le dijo que tendría que ser paciente. “Paciente significa que tendrás que aprender a esperar”, le explicó su mamá. “Por eso a las personas que van a ver a al doctor las llaman pacientes”.

When Luisita went back to school, some kids were staring at her head with no hair.

Cuando Luisita regresó a la escuela, algunos niños se uqudaron mirando su cabeza sin cabello.
